Impression on Australia

I had a good chance to go to the University of Queensland in Australia to study English and Teaching Methodology for two months. Being an English teacher , I treasured this chance very much, because the course is an International Cooperative Training Projects between Jiangsu Provincial Education Department and the University of Queensland in Australia. Now let me give you an account of my course.
When I arrived in Australia ,I felt a little confused. Australia family and household customs are very different from our home country. I Had to approach homestay life with a positive and open mind. I experienced some feelings we call“culture shock”.
Brisbane , the capital city of the state of Queensland, is wide spread . The University of Queensland is located here. Brisbane is a city rich in beauty, culture and natural attractions and one that enjoys a great, sunshine filled climate with lifestyle that is unparalleled across the capital cities of Australia.
The things mentioned below are the symbols of the city Brisbane. Sheep dog; farmer’s hat; the road sign with a kangaroo on it (be careful enough while driving, if your car runs into a kangaroo your car will be badly damaged, of course the animal will also be damaged);pub (public house; ute (a special kind of car used only in Australia) ;vegemite( Babies are weaned by vegemite); boomerang (a kind of weapon ); barbeque (BBQ) .
The University of Queensland is a leader among Australia’s 39 universities--- a large, comprehensive综合 , research- intensive institution of international standing, providing qualifications which are recognized worldwide. Founded in 1910 as the first university in Queensland and the fifth in Australia, the university is a member of Australia’s prestigious Group Of Eight universities.
The course consisted of 25hours class a week, 7 evening social programs, 7 weekend social programs and 4 full-day visits to local schools. The aim of the course was focused on the following four aspects.
